ENFPS and Dreams

So far, the most vivid and memorable dreams seem to reported by ENFPs. True to their dominant Ne function, ENFPs tend to have dreams that involve interplay between seemingly unrelated ideas, concepts or realities. For example, the dreams may be set in the workplace but involve talking animals. The ENFPs may also have a higher number of dreams that shift randomly between completely different situations. For example, one minute the dreamer is at a dinner party with a family of llamas and the next minute the dinner guests all float away and the dreamer finds that she is on planet Zork. While ENFP dreams may contain realistic elements, their dreams tend to have a surrealistic quality. In other words, they may have dreams about doing something mundane but the dream fuses reality with some supernatural element. For example, an ENFP is likely to have a dream about doing housework as a superhero.

This might be representative of the interplay between the ENFPs cognitive functions of Ne and Si. While extroverted intuition (Ne) is likely to see a connection between two seemingly different things, introverted sensing (Si) may ground their intuitive leaps in something that can be recognized in daily life. However, being that the Ne function is dominant and the Si function is inferior, it is more likely that the fantastical element will dominate the Ne's dreams but it will have just enough hints of daily life sprinkled in to make the dream to create the most memorable form of alternate reality.
